What to expect?

As part of the Nederlands Film Festival 2026, De Voorkamer is hosting a free community screening of three Dutch short films, followed by a Q&A with one of the directors.

We will screen:

  • Aimée & Samir (directed by Catherine van Campen): In search of inspiration for her next book, comic artist Aimée de Jong travels to Lesbos, where she translates refugees' stories into poignant drawings.
  • Regen in Augustus (directed by Ashley Röttjers): As Jasmine increasingly shuts herself off from the outside world, her perception of reality begins to distort. To find herself again, she must confront what has remained unspoken between her and her mother all this time.
  • De Wind Tussen Ons (directed by Ali Asgari): After serving a lengthy prison sentence, an Iranian father travels to the Netherlands to meet his son for the first time. In this short family film, Arman struggles to build his role as a father without a shared language.

All three films will be screened with English subtitles. The Q&A will be held in English, with translation support available if needed.
