Internship: Communication & Project Development

De Voorkamer is looking for new interns to join our team from February 2027, for 16–20 hours per week.

We are looking for a new intern! Someone who is eager to learn from and contribute to the cultural and social domain. Are you passionate about art and design within the social domain, communication and cultural exchange? Check out this vacancy!

Practicalities

  • The internship will begin in February 2027 and run until the end of June 2027.
  • We preferably hire interns who can commit to 16-20 hours per week. We always work together as a team at De Voorkamer on Mondays and on Thursdays, from 9:00 to 17:30. Therefore, we ideally have interns join us these days, so that you can have a more involved and social experience*.
  • Feel free to submit your motivation letter/CV in Dutch if it is more comfortable for you. It is good to note that the working language in our space is English. But we do have colleagues who speak Dutch and Arabic, and we do not want you to feel limited by your (current) language skills!

*Do you need to commit more hours to an internship or are unavailable on Mondays or Thursdays? Please write about this in your motivation letter!

The intern’s tasks may include:

  • Developing social media content and communication strategies;
  • Restructuring internal communication/organization methods and templates;

  • Facilitating and developing existing projects (e.g., Women project, Migrantour, Queer Space project);
  • Hosting activities;
  • Assisting with design tasks (e.g., house style/identity development and implementation);
  • Initiating your own project.

Our ideal team member is:

  • Living in Utrecht;
  • Interested in other cultures, meeting other people and knowledge exchange;
  • Experienced/interested in working with people from various cultural backgrounds;
  • Proactive, motivated and takes initiative;
  • Social, approaches people easily and can take the lead in collaborations;
  • Interested in remaining involved with De Voorkamer after the internship as a volunteer.

What can you expect from De Voorkamer?

  • Energetic, active and involved team;
  • Diverse and dynamic work environment - you work on many different tasks and projects and gain a lot of experience in a short period of time;
  • Guidance from the team of De Voorkamer;

About De Voorkamer

De Voorkamer opened its doors in Utrecht in 2016 as a cultural meeting space that promotes inclusion and redefines integration. Through co-creation we stimulate and facilitate the talents of our diverse community.

Together with the community we design meetings and projects that bring our space to life: weekly language cafés and game nights, storytelling events, art and design projects, music and cooking, and much more. Our goal is a Safe(r) Space where people can share thoughts, feelings and knowledge, exchange experiences and build networks.

De Voorkamer is an initiative of Stichting Collective Nouns.
